She is best known for her work in theatre and in the role of Chelsea Daniels, the star of That's So Raven on Disney Channel as well as Raven's Home. The critics praised her abilities to create a character that was both extroverted, but also a little dumb. A few initially considered it impossible given her past serious performances. The actress played Heather as a guest actor for the film Kim Possible (2006). In 2006, she portrayed Heather in the Kim Possible series. This was the first time an actress had a voice part. In 2011, van der Pol made a guest performance as Ronnie on The Disney Channel Original series Shake It Up. In terms of music related, van der Pol collaborated with Raven Symone as well as Orlando Brown in the song That's So Raven on the soundtrack of the series. She also recorded Over It for the soundtrack of the Disney Channel Original Movie Stuck in the Suburbs. Van der Pol sang with the Disney Channel Circle of Stars on pop/R&B versions of The"Lion King"'s Circle of Life (from The Lion King) and Cinderella A Dream Is a Wish That Your Heart Makes ("A Dream Is a Wish That Your Heart Created") to be released as special editions of both movies. She also recorded her own rendition of the Disney classic Candle on the Water, from Pete's Dragon in 2006 for the issue Disneymania. While on Broadway in the role of Belle van der Pol, she sang a variety of songs which were heard in the soundtrack of the musical production including A Change in Me.
