The Swallow's Broadway debut came in High Fidelity. There, she was in a diverse range of shows, including King Lear, The Taming of the Shrew at the Guthrie Theater; Much Ado About Nothing for Shakespeare in the Park. Additionally The off Broadway productions Romantic Poetry & Measure for Pleasure were presented with world premieres. Swallow made her debut in film with 2008's military-themed drama The Lucky Ones. Swallow was in the world premieres of Donald Margulies' The Country House as well as Louis Jenkins' Nice Fish both of which were held at Los Angeles' Geffen Playhouse. In 2010, she received the Falstaff Award for best Female Performer in the year 2010, for her performance as Kate as Kate in The Taming of the Shrew. Swallow developed a show in collaboration alongside fellow comedian Jac Huberman, which was titled Jac N Swallow. They showed it in the New York's Laurie Beeckman Theater as well as Joe's Bar. The comic adventures of this duo are the focus on the stage show. They are faced with a myriad of daily challenges with dignity. Based on their characters, they are creating a TV series. She collaborated in 2013 with Mark Rylance, poet Louis Jenkins and the Guthrie Theater on the premiere of Nice Fish. She was cast as the lead character of Ayad Akhtar's Disgraced, which was produced that was produced by the Center Theatre Group. Swallow played her first TV character as a character in Guiding Light. She has been seen in Southland and Ringer. She played FBI Agent Kim Fischer as a leading part as Kim Fischer in The Mentalist. The 11th season of Supernatural which aired in 2015, she was cast in the role of Amara the Darkness "the Darkness". As of 2019, she is the Armorer of The Mandalorian in Star Wars, as well as her leader of Mandalorians who are traditional. As of the show, she's not been able to show her face as the traditionalists will never take off their headgears.
